Congratulations to Susan Caldis for being chosen as a STEM Ambassador representing Geography

Many GAWA members may have meet Susan Caldis at GAWA PD’s in the past.  Susan is the current President of the Geography Teachers Association of NSW and ACT (GTANSW&ACT). She is a passionate Geography teacher and has been advocating for Geography to be recognised within the STEM realm of education, as it provides the bridge between the sciences and social sciences. Attached is an article that Dr Grant Kleeman and Ms Susan Caldis co-authored that discusses Geography and STEM.

Last week Science and Technology Australia (STA) announced they had chosen 16 STEM Ambassadors, and Susan Caldis was chosen as one of those ambassadors.  This is a great achievement for Susan and for Geography, as this is an opportunity to raise the profile of Geography.  To further read about the STEM Ambassadors and Susan’s work, please read the following documents.
