The John Forrest Award is a competition for secondary school students, which emphasises the use of practical and research skills, observation and the identification of relationships in Geography. The competition is structured according to year groups. Students in Year 8 - 10 are required to demonstrate their ability to construct and analyse a field sketch. Students in Year 11 are required to interpret data taken from the previous year's TEE Broadsheet and to undertake research.

General Conditions of Entry Closing dates for entries are: Lower Secondary - Years 8/9/10   Friday ,25th September 2009 All entries must be accompanied by the appropriate entry form. Schools may submit no more than THREE (3) entries for any particular year group. Entries will only be accepted from schools that are institutional members or the entrants’ teacher is a member of GAWA. Student Prizes (Awarded to all Year Groups - Good Luck!) 1st - $300   Plus a set of GAWA Year 12 textbooks for the Year 11, First Prize Winner. 2nd - $200 3rd - $150
